Metanoia is a Greek word that generally means “a change of mind” or “repentance”. It signifies a profound, transformative shift in one's thinking, perspective, or way of life, often involving a turning away from old patterns and embracing new ones. In different contexts, it can refer to spiritual conversion, psychological transformation, rebuilding or healing oneself.

Every January 1, I would go to a lake and take a photo to signify the forecast for the year ahead. On this particular new year’s day, I knew the life I had always know was changing beyond my control. I took my typical photo, then I dragged the shutter with manual focus and just shook my head with the same bubbling rage/grief/uncertainty I was feeling inside.
